Privacy policy

Last updated 11 October 2026

Learn AI runs learn-ai.co.za and the Learn AI Bootcamp. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, who can see it, how long we keep it and how you can control it. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

The short version

  • We collect only what you give us through our forms, and what the website needs in order to work.
  • We use it to reply to you, run the Bootcamp and issue invoices.
  • We never sell your details, and we never pass them to anyone for their own purposes.
  • We share your details with other attendees and guest lecturers only if you choose that on the enrolment form, and only to the extent you choose.
  • Our hosting, database and email providers handle your information on our behalf. Some of their servers may be outside South Africa.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing info@learn-ai.co.za.

Who is responsible for your information

Learn AI is the responsible party under POPIA. Our Information Officer is Brad Janse van Rensburg. You can reach us at info@learn-ai.co.za.

What we collect and why

When you contact us

Your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. We use them to reply to your enquiry.

When you enrol on the Bootcamp

Your name and surname, the email address and contact number you want us to use for Bootcamp communications, how you heard about the course (referral partner and referral code, both optional), your chosen package, your type of student, your preferred group, your preferred ways of being contacted, your choice about what we may share with other attendees and guest lecturers, and any invoice details you add, such as a company name, registration number or VAT number. We use them to enrol you, run the Bootcamp, communicate with you about it and invoice you.

When you register for an event

Your name, email address and phone number, plus your organisation and any notes you choose to add, so that we can manage your place.

When you submit a testimonial

The name you give (a first name is enough), your testimonial, which Bootcamp you attended, and your organisation, if you give one. We use the access code we gave you only to check that you may submit a testimonial. Your name and organisation appear with your testimonial when it is published. We publish a testimonial only after we have approved it, and we will not publish yours if you are not comfortable with that.

Invoices and payments

The name and email address of the person or company we invoice, the invoice amounts and a record of which invoices have been paid. Any company, registration or VAT details you add on the enrolment form are used for your invoice. We do not collect card details on this website.

Technical information

Like most websites, our hosting provider may record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the website secure and running.

Our grounds for using your information

We use your information where it is needed to respond to you or to carry out our agreement with you, where the law requires it (for example, keeping tax records), where we have a legitimate reason that does not override your rights (such as keeping the website secure), and where you have given your consent (for example, your choice about what we may share with other attendees). Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Who sees your information

People at Learn AI

Only the people who need it to run the Bootcamp and the website.

Other attendees and guest lecturers

The enrolment form asks what you are happy for us to share with other Bootcamp attendees and guest lecturers. We share only what the option you chose covers, from just your student reference up to the details you listed. If you change your mind, tell us and we will stop sharing.

Our service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the website. They handle information on our behalf and only for that purpose:

  • Vercel for website hosting and file storage
  • Neon for the database where submissions are stored
  • Resend for sending us an email when a form is submitted

Nobody else

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to anyone for their own marketing or other purposes. We may disclose information if the law requires us to.

Where your information is stored

Our website and database run on servers outside South Africa, currently in the United States and Germany. We use providers that apply security safeguards and handle information only on our instructions, so that it stays protected to the standard POPIA requires.

How long we keep it

We keep information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above. As a guide:

  • Enquiries sent through the contact form are kept until the matter has been dealt with, and for up to 12 months afterwards.
  • Enrolment records are kept while you are a student and for up to two years afterwards, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Invoices and related records are kept for five years, as South African tax law requires.
  • Testimonials stay published until you ask us to remove them.

We review our records at least once a year, and we delete or anonymise information we no longer need.

How we protect it

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to the administration area is limited to a small number of authorised people at Learn AI and protected by sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

Cookies

This website does not place any cookies on your device when you browse it or submit a form. The only cookie we use is a sign-in cookie for the administrators who manage the website. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies or analytics tools. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

Your rights

You may ask us at any time to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you
  • correct information that is wrong or out of date
  • delete information we no longer have a reason to keep
  • stop using or sharing your information in the ways you agreed to
  • withdraw any consent you have given

Email info@learn-ai.co.za and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first, so that we never give your information to the wrong person.

If you are not happy with how we handle your information, please speak to us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

Students under 18

For students under 18 who enrol with us, we ask for the consent of a parent or legal guardian before we enrol them and before we use their information. We share an under-18 student's details with other attendees and guest lecturers only if their parent or guardian agrees to it.

A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete a child's information at any time by emailing info@learn-ai.co.za.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we will say so on this page.
